Oakland County Circuit Court Finds WWAM Weekends Unlawful in MIP Cases

I am happy to report a major victor in the ongoing MIP struggle in the Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court. After a trial and long appeal on an MIP probation violation which was brought by the Court as a contempt of court, Judge Nicholson's conviction and sentence of my client was overturned and it was found that using "Contempt of Court" to punish for a probation violation was illegal. Further, of great importance to every kid out there spending his or her weekends at the WWAM program, the Circuit Court found WWAM to be an illegal sentence in MIP cases. Also, because of this case, the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office is no longer prosecuting the contempt cases! Click here to view the downloaded Opinion in its entirety!
